Feel the deep work of a Callanetics workout with this simple arm toning exercise.
Have you ever been given the advice “if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is”? There’s nothing wrong with healthy skepticism, I mean, none of us wants to be taken for a fool. We hear this type of thing a lot…
“When I first saw The Callanetics Studio I remember thinking ‘yeah right!’ The promises of not only amazing results but in record time seemed unattainable. I gave it a go on the recommendation of a friend and was pleasantly surprised to notice the changes around my saddlebags and muffin top. I can’t wait to see what happens next!” – Pauline R, TCS Member
If you’ve been shopping around for a workout that does what it says on the box and will actually target all those areas you really want to work on, you’re probably looking for something different to what you’ve tried before.
What to expect form a Callanetics workout
This not something you can really get an understanding of without giving it a go! One you have experienced even one exercises you will begin to open your mind to the possibilities this program will have for your whole body.
Callanetics is nothing new…in fact it has been around for the best part of three decades. At the time, Callan Pinkney, the founder of Callanetics, was revolutionizing the fitness industry. At a time of aerobics being in vogue, millions across the world were opting for an alternative exercise program that gave them quick results, didn’t cause injury and in fact helped with their back, neck and knee problems and also fit into a busy schedule.
Callanetics was originally marketed for it’s rapid body sculpting results. We have taken the program even further, now, making the exercises more effective with the addition of alignment training to keep your muscles switched on and toning long after you’ve finished your workout.
As I said, though, hearing about about it is one thing. Callanetics isn’t really a spectator sport..so lets get you pulsing right now!
This little gem will tone up the arms without adding bulk. You’ll get beautifully defined, taught biceps!
Try this right now, even while you’re sitting at your computer…
Take your right arm out to the side at shoulder height. Relax your shoulder blade down towards your hips and then begin to lengthen your arm right out, from between the shoulder blades all the way to your fingers.
Now, still holding the arm up, relax the whole arm. Check you are not holding the arm rigid but that you’re gently lengthening all the way through.
Roll the arm over, so the palm faces the ceiling. Now add a pulse; move the arm up and down only ¼ of an inch. See if you can tune into the innermost sensations of the upper arm and create the movement from there.
After about 15 pulses, bring the arm straight back behind you. Begin pulsing again and working deeply into
the upper arm. To make this even more effective, think of lengthening right up through the spine and out of the crown.
Keep working, pulsing up to 75 times. To come out, gently bend the elbow and bring the arm forward.
Take a moment to compare the right arm vs the left. Now you can repeat on the left.
Isn’t it amazing how deeply and intensely you can feel your muscles working, without adding any weights and actually intending to relax while you workout?!
This is the beauty of Callanetics…the ability to isolate and tone the innermost muscles to work the body from the inside out, creating dramatic pulling in and lifting up all over the body.
Just as exciting as the lean, toned figure you will create with Callanetics, are the many and wonderful health benefits. The program promotes healthy bones, free flow of blood throughout the entire body and improved lymphatic drainage. Consistent and mindful practice can reawaken areas of the body where sensation has been lost and give you back control over the ageing process. The list goes on… The point is, what was once considered a program that will change your body shape faster than you can say ‘ten years younger in ten hours’, is a program that delivers on a health and wellbeing level just as much as the aesthetic.
